If you've always thought that the one thing there just isn't enough of, is pictures of Robert Downey Junior as a pin-up girl, well, your weird prayers have finally been answered, because there are many, many pictures of Mr Downey Junior as a pin-up girl HERE. In fact, there's nothing else there except lots and lots of pictures of Robert as a pin-up girl. Really. Seriously loads of them. Knock yourself out.

This dramatic short CGI film is part of the Polish pavilion at Expo 2010 in Shanghai and it traces two thousand years of Polish history, which according to the film, is two thousand years of fighting, war, oppression and invasion, with the odd musician or bit of ship building thrown in for light relief. It makes our own benighted history look like a picnic. Of course the whole point of the Expo is to sell your country, so at the end, once it reaches the 90's, it's all gleaming skyscrapers bursting into the sunny sky as the EU flag floats in the sky like the sun of a brighter future. Though after watching the film and taking the long view, you'd have to wonder when the next invasion is going to happen.

As someone who doesn't smoke hash anymore because it just doesn't suit me (it doesn't make me giddy and giggly or interested in things - it makes me dull and lethargic and unproductive and slightly stressed because every tiny thing seems like such a huge hassle) I personally have no interest in seeing it legalised. However, I recognise that there are strong arguments in favour of legalisation, and it's patently obvious that prohibition simply doesn't work.
But regardless of your feelings on the matter, and despite the Pollyanna-ish view of marajuana in this little short, it's a very cute piece of animation.

I love these great illustrated/animated talks from the Royal Society of Arts (one of which I've posted before) which tackle big ideas in a fun accessible way, and they are all worth checking out. Here's another, from a talk by journalist, author and political activist Barbara Ehrenreich, which skewers the idea of "positive thinking", popularised by Oprah et al and in books like The Secret.
