Simple, effective, and in it's way beautiful ad that will move you, but not in the way you expect.

An impressive, entertaining, and deceptively simple ad for Johnnie Walker whisky featuring Robert Carlyle, all done in a single take. Though I suspect it took many takes to get it in the can.

Obviously PETA know what they're doing, because who hasn't heard of them or what they're about? But their campaigns often leave me cold because they always look like ironic fashion shoots to me. This latest stunt in Times Square is a case in point - gorgeous models with perfect bodies in fake blood. Wouldn't this have been much more effective if they'd used regular folk with irregular bodies? Skinny/fat/blotchy/ordinary. And more realistic. The pale, anemic bit of chicken in the fridge in Tescos didn't come from a prize-winning super-chicken, it came from a battery farmed scrawny thing that had to be injected with water to make it presentable.
And I say this as a meat eater - though one who struggles with my conscience over it. However it's not PETA campaigns that make me struggle with it. Maybe it's because I'm not American. Their campaigns always seem so Californian or something. They're using the polished language of advertising and movies, but that doesn't connect with me on any visceral level. It's just another episode of America's Next Top Model.

... is an impressive and fun viral ad (for Levis?) that uses time-lapse and stop motion. The how-they-made-it video is also worth a look. It was a painstaking process.

Unless you've been living under a rock with a dial-up internet connection, you have no doubt seen the great Old Spice ad with the super-hot Man Your Man Could Smell Like.
Check out this great parody done to promote a US university library.
UPDATE: As my erudite commenters have pointed out, the university in question is a rottenly homophobic Mormon one. Ugh!

We've already seen the subway "fastlane" slide (which is the best one), but here are two more fun Volkswagen ads in the same series.
And shopping trollies. (cute supermarket guy alert at 1:07!)
