On the left is Your's Truly, and on the right, is Enrique Juncosa, director of the Irish Museum of Modern Art. However, it can be very difficult to tell us apart sometimes. Though I think making it into the Irish Times' "Corrections & Clarifications" means I've finally really made it!
(This is what they're on about)

... Penny and I discussed pop art painter Bridget Reilly, and wondered whatever happened to Jacqueline Bisset. It's funny what you think about when you're out walking...

Here's a wee teaser.
I came across this first video on a US gay website, where it was posted as an example of how kids parrot the Christian anti-gay stuff they learn from their parents. In the video, the kid, supposedly from Texas, comes out against gay marriage: it's a sin etc. And the same kid has lots of other similar videos, from which you learn that he is home schooled, was bullied at school after trying to get kids to stop playing violent video games, has a sister...
But then I noticed that the kid gets a lot of grief in the YouTube comments, and one of them suggested that he's a fake, and is in fact Irish. So, a little sleuthing turned up another YouTube account which features the same kid, and in the video below he claims to be living in Donegal ("near the border"), to be half Irish and half Dutch, and that his other videos are fakes that he makes to "troll" US Christians. He claims to hate Americans, and to be an atheist. To prove it, he shows an "Irish plug" and a copy of the TV Times. However, while he does a pretty good jokey Dublin accent at one point, the accent varies widely, and has strong American tones. Is he an American kid who spends time in Ireland?
But then I turned up another YouTube account featuring the same kid! In these, he reviews video games, and cameras and other tech stuff, and in these he has a Northern Irish accent. A proper one that no regular American kid could pull off, though again, there are American undertones, and some US phrasing. But he's certainly in Ireland. There are lots of them, but the one below also has the same dressing gown in the background that can be seen in the "Christian kid" video.
So, who is this kid really? And if the Christian ones are fake, is that what kids do now? Spend their time making videos to "punk" people on the other side of the world and get involved in internet slanging matches? Don't little boys play with dolls anymore?
And have I got too much time on my hands?

BBC News 24's main presenter, Jane Hill, is a happy ABBA-lovin' lesbian, with a long-term partner and a dog called Mavis. For some reason that's comforting. If I'm going to turn on the news and find out that North Korea has launched a missile attack, or the polar ice-caps have melted and we're all doomed, I'd prefer to hear that from a lesbian. I'd feel safer.

Chicken Hawk is a 1994 documentary about the controversial pedophile organization NAMBLA (The North American Man Boy Love Association) - though I guess if we were to be pedantic, they're mostly "hebephiles".
I was talking to my gay Niall about it earlier, and he said that the first time he came across NAMBLA was in the early 90's when he was at a gay pride parade in the US, and Nambla marched, much to the horror of the gays who shouted abuse and threw things at them. I understand how they felt! In the documentary some of the members are interviewed at a gay pride event. I assume you, Dear Readers, don't need me to spell out why that's all sorts of wrong.
It's an interesting watch. The men are very open about what they do, and try to justify it in a very blasé manner. Apart from the obvious moral and ethical objections, what's really fascinating to me is how self-deluded they are. They're convinced that these children are "flirting" with them. Perfectly normal interactions with young boys are seen as sexual advances. There's a scene where one of the men has a very normal interaction on the street with a boisterous young boy on a bike at a public pay-phone, and yet the pedophile is convinced that the interaction was laced with sexual tension.
Anyway, it's a fascinating, creepy, and at times shocking look at the kind of people you read so much about but rarely get to hear.
It's in six parts. Below is part 1, and here are parts 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Warhol had a "cable access" TV show in New York in the 80's. This is a collection of clips from various shows. There's Halston, Blondie, Manhattan mounted police, Horst, Duran Duran...
