    Clerical rap(e)

I missed this when I was away. In case you did too, here's Irish actor Dermot Magennis pulling no punches in this Eminem parody about the cover up of clerical child abuse by Bishop John Kirby.

Apparently these are real and not photoshopped jokes

This first one definitely is real, because it was available on Amazon long before the Jimmy Saville story broke, with helpful reviews from 1999 like: This book teaches your child the dangers of trusting strangers. It is easy to understand for the child, and keeps their interest. I have searched for this book again and again, and have not found it in the library since 1993. I am going to find it and share it with my 3 other young children.

And the internet says this one, a BBC handbook for childminders called Other People's Children, is also real even if it's hard to believe. But I guess if the first one is....

Jimmy Saville and Garry Glitter fix it for a teenage girl

This clip from Jim'll Fix It where he has fixed for a very shy teenage girl to perform with Garry Glitter (who, by the way, raps!) on a song called Red Hot takes on a whole other character knowing what we know now. And doesn't the girl look absolutely thrilled at the end... not!

    *snigger*

Meanwhile, MP, author, and rock'n'roll wife Louise Bagshawe Mensch is my new stylish heroine-assasin. (Yes, I know she's a Tory MP and therefore there's a good chance she's an 'orrible woman who hates immigrants or something, but lets not look too closely and just enjoy her Piers Morgan baiting shall we?)

Piers Morgan can obfuscate and get on his pretend high-horse all he likes but Mensch is right. He may have crafted his words carefully (no doubt on the advice of his lawyers) but certainly he insinuated in his book that hacking went on and that he was aware of it and condoned it when he was a tabloid editor, and all his outraged bluster in this clip is the bluster of a man trying to blagg his way out of a corner. And Louise is magnificent. Oooh she really winds him up!

And by the way, I read his book on the beach a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it for all it's celebrity gossip, under-handed intrigue and self-serving bombast.

    (clip via Broadsheet)

But even before Louise Mensch took her shot, Pier's knew damn well he was going to come under fire, and tried to preempt it.

Simon Cowell reports blogger to police, and kid's mother describes allegations as "laughable"

Simon Cowell is not taking the allegations (previously) of fixing Britain's Got Talent lying down - he has gone to the police over it - and meanwhile, the mother of 12 year old Ronan Parke, the poor kid at the centre of all this, has absolutely denied the claims that her son is already signed to Cowell's company and has been intensively coached by them before the competition: "It's laughable, to be perfectly honest with you, and it couldn't be further from the truth."

Pretty serious allegations made against Simon Cowell and Britain's Got Talent (and X Factor)

I have not been watching Britain's Got Talent, so untill just now I had never heard of 12 year old Ronan Parke, who has apparently taken the competition by storm. And after watching his audition, and his semi-final performance on YouTube, I can see why. He is a very talented, and charming young fella.

However, if this article, supposedly written by a disillusioned executive at Sony Music who has worked closely with Simon Cowell and on Britain's Got Talent, is to be believed, then not only is young Ronan not a lucky find, but he has been cynically and grossly manipulated.

At first the allegations are nothing too shocking and nothing a perceptive viewer of BGT or X Factor mightn't have worked out for themselves - that the talented contestants have been scouted beforehand and given "preferred" treatment, and for he most part the open auditions are really just looking for the dreadful, the bizarre, and the mentally ill.

However, the article goes on to make much more serious allegations against Cowell and his production teams. It alleges that the voting is comprehensively manipulated, that never in the history of BGT or X Factor has there been a winner who was not an "invited" or "preferred" contestant, that young Ronan has been signed to Cowell's label for three years and has been intensively coached to be a British Justin Bieber and a BGT winner, that Ronan will be "voted" the winner this weekend, and more disturbingly that, without his parents knowledge, he has bee purposely styled and coached to be "gay" to appeal to a certain teen demographic.

"Until now Ronan had been encouraged to "boy-up" and it was planned to present Ronan as an everyday skater-boy. But with his girliness still showing through, the image just wasn't believable. So a decision was taken to encourage and allow Ronan to "release" and enhance his campness . Disgustingly, SYCO planned to sexualise him. They were well aware of course, that if they sexualised a young girl to look sexually older than she is, all hell would let loose. But with Ronan, as one executive put it, "no one has ever seen a 'gay' kid before, it'll be a novelty." As for the pre-teen market, it was accepted they wouldn't care if Ronan appeared gay or not...most probably don't know what gay is anyway. And so, with a total gay- sexualisation of Ronan secretly planned, SYCO got to work."

Many of the allegations are easy to believe, and indeed easy to defend. For example, why shouldn't the production company actively scout real talent rather than just hope it turns up? But some of the allegations are much more sinister.

Are they true? I don't know. The article is anonymously written which is always an alarm bell, but most of the allegations are easy to believe. However, some of the more sinister allegations would require an awful lot of people to remain silent in order for the production company to get away with it.

Read it for yourself and make up your own mind.

Of course it will be interesting to see if indeed young Ronan does win this weekend. Though if he does people will say he deserved to win, and if he doesn't, people will say they couldn't let him win after these allegations were published.

    (thanks Ian)

UPDATE: Simon has denied everything of course. Well, if the main thrust of the allegations are true, it shouldn't take long for the truth to come out, because either the kid has been signed to Cowell's label and been coached by them for the past two years, or he hasn't. Shouldn't be too hard to find out one way or the other.

Either way I feel sorry for the poor kid getting caught in the middle of all this. If the allegations are all untrue, then whoever wrote that thing is a real prick.

The one allegation that seems a step too far to me, and makes me doubt the whole thing, is the assertion that nobody has ever won BGT or X Factor who wasn't a "preferred" contestant. Really? Leon Jackson was a "preferred" contestant?! Really?

Bye bye Galliano. Close the Dior on your way out.

The house of Dior have done the inevitable and fired Galliano for his "odious behaviour", as allegations that he's been a vile asshole on numerous occasions starts to mount.

And if that weren't enough, even the porcelain Natalie Portman hates him. (Portman is the face of Dior perfume, and she pointedly didn't wear Dior to the Oscars) I think I'd prefer to be fired than have Queen Amidala hate me.

Charlie Sheen is a feckin' mess

Between the election and Galliano you probably heard about Charlie Sheen getting fired from Two And A Half Men - currently the US' biggest sitcom - because he finally stepped over the drink 'n' drugs 'n' whores line by bad-mouthing the shows producer on a radio show in an interview that was choc full of crazy.

And you might imagine that that would snap him out of it, or at last chasten him. Not a bit of it! He went on TV and laid out his drug-fucked insanity for everyone to see. Looking like a wild-eyed "dirty stop-out" stumbling home when everyone else is heading to work, he rambles on about how Alcoholics Anonymous is a pile of crap, how he he'll go back to work for a raise to 3 million an episode, and why CBS should lick his feet, among other crazy talk.

He and Galliano should get together and make a reality show.

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

And there's plenty more of that kind of stuff, cos he spread the crazy to other networks too! He's been a busy mess. (that link also includes some of the radio crziness if you missed that and care)

Still, at least Charlie has a nice new boyfriend.

The Galliano saga has more twists than a pirate hair-do

The Galliano scandal isn't going to quit anytime soon. In case you were so caught up in the election over the weekend that fashion scandales enormes didn't register with you, the Dior designer was arrested over the weekend after a couple claimed that he hurled drunken anti-semetic insults at them in a Paris bar. He was released without charge but Dior has suspended him while they investigate what happened.

Some "eye witness" reports have come to his defense (somewhat), and claim he was only giving as good as he got, and that he didn't use anti-semetic remarks.

However, now, things do not look good for Galliano after the Sun newspaper got their hands on video of him at the same bar in October last year, drunkenly saying that he "loves Hitler" and relishing the idea that  "People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be fucking gassed."

Methinks it'll be hard to wriggle out of that and consequently there's currently a big job opening in the fashion world...
