To celebrate her 80th birthday, Laverne decided to do a skydive and when she jumped out of the airplane (or to be honest, is pushed, as she seems frightened at the alst moment and reluctant to jump, hanging on to the door frame), strapped to the professional, the top part of the harness came away and they hurtled toward the ground with her jumping partner desperately hanging on to her. It's a terrifying video. Amazingly they land safely, though how Laverne didn't have a heart attack is beyond me!
More background on the Huffington Post.

Really beautiful time-lapse of Irish skies by photographer Peter Cox that reminds you of the stunning beauty of the skies and clouds we spend so much time complaining about. There really is an "Irish light" you get nowhere else.
Watch full screen.

A few days ago a pod of 30 dolphins beached themselves in the middle of the day on a popular beach in Brazil, and the locals enjoying a day at the beach immediately set to work and saved all of them within minutes. People done good.
Lucky for the dolphins they didn't wash up in Taiji!

No, it's not what you think! It's actually very sweet. In this video the public of East London react to tiny gardens that have cropped up in the area's potholes and pavement cracks.

This natural phenomenon which I'd never heard of before is amazing. Lot's more info under the YouTube clip.

When it skims by the screaming kids on the shoreline below the harbour wall in Portrush, I was willing the shark to renounce it's plankton diet and lunge for them.

The dramatic face that appears in this cloud formation could give you the heebeejeebies and would definitely have your ancestors bowing down before the angry sky god. Skip ahead to about the 1 minute mark.
