All the details and how to get tickets at Gloria's website.

Somebody with a wicked streak got their hands on the live feed recording from the Eurovision vocal mic, which shows up quite a lot of horrible squaking and caterwauling.
In the first video, skip to 5:05 for the Romanian operatic vampire guy, followed by a very husky-voiced Bonnie Tyler. And in the second clip, skip to 4:40 to hear our own Ryan Dolan acquit himself pretty well.
(thanks Donal)

I'm not a big fan of the tv talent shows, and I generally find The Voice to be boring (and I dislike that it pretends to be "all about the voice" when of course it's no such thing and is in exactly the same game that X Factor is in) but occasionally they do prove to have some worth by finding a real talent and giving them a platform to be seen by millions. Leah McFall from Belfast is one of those talents.
Amazing voice, and on top of that, it's incredibly difficult to take a huge and over-played classic like I Will Survive and totally make it your own in a way that makes you forget the original, like it's a different song.
Unless it's not original version and it's a cover of someone else's version that I'm not familiar with? Either way, she's got a great voice - part Patti Labelle, part Minnie Ripperton, with a bluesy touch. And so self assured with it. I suspect she's been plugging away for years.
Lots more of her videos here.

I love this. Made for a "mash up" contest, this video uses Robyn's Dancing On My Own to come to the defense of Baroness Shraeder from The Sound Of Music who is always unfairly thought of as the villain/evil stepmother of the piece, when in fact she did nothing wrong and in truth was a lovely woman who was unfairly treated by those prceocious rotten kids and who had her man stolen from her by that flibbidy jibbet Maria. Team Baroness!
And for good measure there's a bit of Whitney thrown in too.
UPDATE: And if you liked that, you'll love this: I regret to inform you that my wedding to Captain has been cancelled.

... (which I was below) here's the debut single from Dublin outfit Trust In Stars. It's a dance floor stomper (as the kids probably don't say but I imagine they do).

After the great success of Record Store Gay at Pantibar last month, the folks behind it are doing a live music event in Pantibar on the first Friday of every month with a whole range of queer bands. The first one is this coming Friday and features Diamond Dagger, French Bird, and I ♥ The Moster Hero. And here's Licki Rake to tell you more...

Here's high school student Jessica Simpson belting out a number in her school production of A Chorus Line, and she's good. She's not a bad dancer either. I couldn't actually name a Jessica Simpson song but I've definitely seen her on TV performing, but I guess, like so much modern pop production, she was over-produced right out of her own songs.

And Petra Mede should host it every year no matter where it takes place.

French Bird are an energetic young Dublin alt/pop/queer band who were involved in Record Store Gay a couple of weeks ago and their cover of Cheryl Lynn's Got To Be Real is on the Record Store Gay 2013 Queer Anthems compilation, all proceeds from which go to Dublin's LGBT resource centre Outhouse.
