No idea what the background to this is, but here's a video of an excited French waitress climbing on top of a table and loudly declaring that she's a lesbian and "can be married!", to startled applause from the customers. Presumably she was overcome with excitement at the recent passing of marriage equality in France?

Eleanor Charlotte Butler and Sarah Ponsonby were two Anglo-Irish ladies from wealthy Kilkenny families whose intense relationship scandalised Ireland in the late 1700's. However the feisty ladies knew what they wanted and were determined to live their lives as they chose, together. In order to live as they pleased they moved to a small town in Wales and lived together as a devoted and loving couple for over fifty years and eventually the "Ladies of Llangollen" became celebrated and famous eccentrics and gardeners.
Their story is fascinating and charming and revelatory and is the subject of a lovely RTE radio documentary which you can hear HERE.

This young woman at a Californian school stands up at assembly and comes out to the entire student body. She mentions she was in a production of the musical Rent, and as you might expect from a Californian teenage aspiring actress, it's a little too rehearsed for my taste - more like a dramatic reading than a raw coming-out speech - but is never-the-less brave and eloquent. Good on her.

Jonathan Ross has spoken about his gay daughter in an interview with Gaydar Radio, and as you'd expect from Ross, he's very supportive.
Speaking on the Gaydar Radio breakfast show, the father of three made the comments in response to a question from a listener asking how he would feel if his daughters brought a woman home.
He said: "My eldest daughter is gay, so that's a question which I've dealt with on a regular basis already, which is, providing it's a nice woman, I'm thrilled. I've got no problems at all, obviously.
"I think that's pretty much out there - she talks about it on her Twitter feed. As any dad, really, I love my kids regardless of who they are, what they do, and I would love them if they were in trouble, I would love them if they were going through difficulties.
"Certainly, their sexuality is A, really none of my business and B, certainly none of my concern. I just want them to be good, happy, stable people and so far, all three of them seem to be that."

Yesterday I mentioned that the Israeli version of Strictly was to be the first to feature a same sex couple, a lesbian TV sports presenter paired with a female professional, and here's a clip of their first performance. Apparently they have decided to take turns leading, which is fine in theory, but seeing them together I think the ten foot tall lesbian should do the leading! Of course, I know nothing about ballroom dancing so maybe the big height difference shouldn't make a difference? But I say, "Let the lesbian lead!".

Israel is the first country to feature a same sex couple in it's version of Strictly Come Dancing (or Dancing With The Stars as it's called in much of the world). The sixth series of the Israeli show will feature a gay female tv sports presenter, who has been paired with a female professional dancer, and the two women have decided to take turns at leading.
[That's not them pictured by the way, but I like the look of the sassy lesbians in that pic]

A new BBC3 series which begins on Oct 12th, and follows the lives of a group of twenty-something lesbians is being compared to Queer As Folk for it's explicit portrayal young lesbian sex. Well, that's according to The News Of The World (so take that with a giant pinch of salt) who claim the "new lusty lesbian show" is causing "fury" over it's "sexplicit girl-on-girl bedroom scenes". Here's hoping Bernie!
