... who's thinking, "Feck the hegemony of gender-normative roles!" (or whatever the Chinese for that is).

It's hard for a big girl to carry off flat-iron hair.
Elton John performed in drag with Kylie Minogue in 1995 at a Stonewall Equality concert. Here's a little backstage and rehearsal footage.

It's Mardi Gras time of year again, and Virgin Airways got in the mood on a flight from Melbourne to Sydney. (story and video)
And here's a fantastic 'tilt-shift' of last year's celebrations in Sydney that I posted last year, but it definitely worth another outing.

Is Twink about to lose her home? Dear Dolly, can this recession get any worse? Will Chloe and Naomi end up on the street? Will no one think of the children? Will Twink be forced to give up her icing-sugar sculpting? Will the gays have a whip round and put her up in a B&B? Will Linda Martin let them move in to her en-suite? So many questions!

This clip of one of "Mrs Brown" has nearly 1.5 million YouTube hits! Apparently the video was put together for BBC executives as a pitch for a Mrs Brown sitcom, and apparently it worked! Expect to see Mrs Brown coming to a TV near you soon.

I'm kinda over flash mobs, but when they feature amazing dancers, hot drags, and Tokyo, you gotta love 'em.

When I was a baby-gay in 1970's Mayo, I hardy knew what gay was. There were no gays on the telly (apart from the occasional nellie on Top Of The Pops, and we weren't sure about them), no gay bars for sure, and no internet to look for them.
But that's all changed. Spun Out.ie is a "yoof" website for young Irish people, with information, advice, forums etc. about everything that young people are concerned about: school, bullies, health, and sexuality. Turns out that sexuality is one of their biggest concerns (quelle surprise!) and there is much discussion about homosexuality.
Spun Out.ie contacted me to say that they wanted to do some stuff on cross-dressing and drag (kids these days!) so they came along to Pantibar one evening and spoke to me about how and why I got into drag, and to speak to our baby-drag, the 18 year old Bláthnaid.
Depending on your point of view, the fact that I'm giving advice to teenagers about how to live their lives is either a sign of hope for the future, or a sign that the apocalypse is just around the trannie corner....
