The Constitutional Convention will be meeting this weekend and on Sunday (April 14th) will vote on whether or not to recommend to government to provide for full marriage equality. It's a major milestone on the last leg of the journey to full equality for LGBT couples.
To mark the occasion, LGBT Noise will be staging a "kiss in" outside the Gaiety Theatre at 12 noon on Sunday, and then afterward, Pantibar will be open from 12:30 where Noise, GLEN (Gay & Lesbian Equality Network), and Marriage Equality will be gathering to celebrate and watch live coverage of the vote from the Constitutional Convention. Everyone is invited for what will hopefully be one of those days you'll always remember.
UPDATE: Here's the running order for the convention this weekend. The result of the vote will be at 12:45 on Sunday.
Normal Sunday afternoon disco-diva shenanigans later in the afternoon too of course!

If you watch this and don't think "adorable" even if just for a moment, then you are dead inside and have a long career in Youth Defence ahead of you. And anyway, I wouldn't believe you. They're like labrador puppies - doe eyed and so eager to please - that you just couldn't put them in an old potato sack with a rock and toss them in a river.

Love this picture of my gay Tonie Walsh - dj, historian/archivist, keeper of all things Irish and gay for future gaynerations, and all round legend - who has waited twenty five years to see the back of this pope. This is Tonie picketing the Vatican Embassy in Dublin during Pride 1987 over the churches policy on condoms.

The critically acclaimed Brazilian movie "Colegas (Buddies)" will premiere in Brazil in March. The movie is about three young people with Down Syndrome who run away from the institution they live in and set out to find their own destinies. The three actors have Down Syndrome themselves, and the lead is played by Ariel Goldemberg, whose life long dream is to meet his hero Sean Penn. Ariel wants Sean Penn to come to Brazil so he can meet him and go to the premier if the movie together, and in an attempt to help Ariel, the other cast members and crew put together this sweet video, with cameos from lots of Brazilian celebrities, hoping it might eventually reach Sean Penn. It's very sweet. If Sean Penn does see it and go to Brazil they might even get another movie out of it!

I have had a long, unedifying, and complicated relationship with the dreaded weed. I've been a smoker more often than a non-smoker for the past twenty five years or so. Oh I've had good long periods of non-smoking, and there have been times when I'd have laughed at you if you'd suggested I'd ever smoke again. However I've learned not to be so smug. The last time I ran the marathon I met a friend on the street fifteen minutes after crossing the finish line and asked him for a cigarette. I smoked for the next year. My last bout with smoking was very recent. When I was in Australia in November I ended up smoking again - something to do with sunshine and hot weather and holidays. I never want to smoke more than when relaxing in the sun with a glass of crisp white wine. (what's that about?) And I smoked like a bleedin' squddie till Christmas. Thankfully, giving up (again!) has been easy - perhaps I wasn't back smoking long enough to be completely re-enslaved - but like I said, I've learned not to be too smug. I'm only ever one cigarette away from being a smoker. And I am a great smoker! I mean, I am an all or nothing kind of smoker. Either I'm completely a non-smoker, or I'm smoking thirty a day. There is no middle ground, part-time, only-when-I'm-out, just-at-weekends smoking for me. I'm either not smoking, or I'm smoking at breakfast. And yet I still look this good. Amazing, right?
Anyway, here's a really simple and effective anti-smoking ad from Thailand.
(thanks Ally)

Look what happens to nice fellas in the US Navy when they get caught up with "bath salts"!
Mephadrone is its real name, though it was generally sold here as "plant food" when the head shops were selling it. It is a nasty drug and the moment the head shops stopped selling it here it pretty much disappeared as people went back to taking "real" drugs like ecstasy and cocaine. However oddly, in London "meow" as they seem to call it, has remained a popular drug despite being banned there, probably because it remained cheap. I was amazed last summer at how many people in London clubs were taking it. I suspect you'd have trouble giving that crap away here.
Still though, nasty drug or not, this silly Navy "bath salts" PSA would nearly drive you to it!
