It ain't an expensive looking ad (ain't nobody got time for that!) but I hope Sweet Brown got paid well for it. 'Cos Lord Jesus she could do with a break after all the bronchitis an' all.
And in related Sweet Browm/Beyonce news...

Two very cute ads created by Jim Henson in 1967, two years before he started work on Sesame Street. Although Henson had been working with puppets since the late 50's (and one of his short films was Oscar nominated in 1966) it's still interesting to see how developed the muppet style already was in these ads.
(thanks Squirl)

The ASAI has upheld the complaint against that Meteor ad made by TENI (Transgender Equality Network Ireland).
The advertisement caused widespread offence in the transgendered community and the ASAI upheld two complaints of its voluntary code. The first states that advertisements should not cause offence on several grounds including sexual orientation. The second states that such groups should not be subject to "ridicule or offensive humour".
Lots of people thought TENI were being overly sensitive - even I thought they were a little at first till I read a few opinions from trans bloggers/writers - but if you are in any doubt, just reading the comments under the Irish Times report will convince you they were right. Some of the comments make for depressing reading - there's a lot of ignorance out there.

Planning a civil partnership? Gorey Co. Wexford would be a good place to start.

You'd be hard pressed to find a video with a more greuesome cast than this anti-abortion ad from EWTN Ireland (Eternal Word Television Network - no, me neither. It's a Catholic TV station broadcasting on the web, "24 hours a day, 365 days a year")
The ad is effective though - after watching it I'm considering becoming a doctor just so I can perform abortions!
And I know it's petty of me to pick on the little things, but educated people who don't know what "literally" means is one of my pet hates. (In this case it's pro life solicitor/mouth piece Caroline Simons, whom you may have seen on Vincent Brown's show last night giving a master class in condesension, and Irish Times journalist John Waters)
"But in recent times there has literally been a tsunami hitting Ireland..."
No there hasn't. We've had a bit of rain alright, but last time I checked a giant wave hadn't hit the country recently.
And as for, "This battle can only be won if we are on our knees", well, I'll let you make your own off-colour jokes!
