Councillor Dermot Looney, a Labour representative on the South Dublin County Council for the Tallaght area has asked the council to contact the Dublin Pride organisers with a view to bringing the annual Pride celebrations to Tallaght.
In a motion to February’s Council meeting, Cllr Looney asks that the “Council congratulates the success of Dublin Pride in raising awareness of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights in Dublin for more than 25 years and offers its support for the 2010 event,” and calls on the Council to “contact Dublin LGBTQ Pride Limited to offer support and assistance, with a view to holding events in the South Dublin area in this and future Pride festivals.”
It's nice of him an' all, but I can't really see all the gays traipsing out to Tallaght. Though those gays who like that kind of thing do tell me it's full of hot young fellas in tracksuits. I wouldn't know as my court ordered ankle bracelet doesn't allow me outside the canals.
Anyway, here's Councillor Dermot. Would you?
